Remembering Ray

Welcome to RayWasinger.com, which I’m throwing out onto the interwebs to help keep the memory of our brother Ray alive.

Ray was diagnosed with inoperable glioblastoma (a fancy word for brain cancer) in May of 2010 and passed away four months later. As I write this on the eve of what would have been his 68th birthday, he’s been gone almost six years and I still miss our late night phone chats about absolutely nothing (“I got nothin’”), cheap bike tires (Vrederstein Fortezza Tri-Comps at $25 were, in Ray’s words, practically free), OU football, the Broncos, hockey, pets, coffee, the Beatles, the Eagles, drums and whatever other silly topic we might land on in any given call.

This is going to be a work in progress and, as time allows, I’ll be including more photos, stories Ray used to tell, stories we still tell about Ray, and some the tributes put forth by others. Until then, take a few minutes to remember Ray, his music, his spirit, his laugh and most importantly, the joy with which he lived his life.
